Sowjanya case: Karnataka HC asks state govt to implement restraint order against Thimarody

Mangaluru, Sep 01, 2023: The Karnataka High Court has directed the State Home Government and the Home Department to ensure that its order restraining activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarody from making statements against Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade and his family members, in connection with the Sowjanya case, be strictly adhered to.

The court orders came after hearing the petition filed by Sheenappa, the Regional Director of Dharmasthala Rural Development Project and another person Nandeesh Kumar Jain.

A single judge bench  of Justice Krishna S Dixit heard the case and issued notices to the Chief Secretary of State Government, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department, DGP, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada SP, Bantwal DySP, officers of Belthangady and Dharmasthala police stations as well as Thimarody.
