quizMangalore, October 31, 2009: T N Sandeepa and Prashant Bhat of St Aloysius High School, Mangalore, were the winners of the Mangalore regional round of the Hindu Young World Quiz 09, which was organized in the Town Hall on Friday. The two have won a chance to represent Mangalore at the final round of this quiz to the organized in Coimbatore on November 6. 

The runners up are Vaishnavi Satish and Sanjan Prakash of Lourdes Central School, Bejai, and the second runners up are P K Aditya and H S Sunil of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Panambur.

Three hundred and fifty teams from Mangalore, Kannur, Kasaragod, Udupi, and so on participated in this event. The Town Hall was packed with excited people. 

The Hindu awarded certificates to all the participants; and each member of the audience who gave the correct answer to the questions thrown at them received a Penguin Year Book. 

The sponsor and associate sponsor of the programme were S & M Kids Wear and Kalasilingam University, respectively. The national sponsors of the event were Black Thunder, Gold Winner, Vizag Steel Plant, Crocs Shoes, Britannica Encycopaedia, Cherry Blossom, Tamilnad Mercantile Bank, Hatsun Agro Foods Ltd (Arokya), Lotte India, Firefox bikes, Penguin Books, and Reynolds. The beverage sponsor was Dabur Real Fruit Juice. The regional sponsors were St Joseph Engineering College, P A College of Engineering, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, and New Mangalore Port Trust. The event managers were "Ads and Events." 

The chief guest of the function, Sandeep Sacheti, the director of the National Institute of Technology, Suratkal, gave away the prizes.
