Mangaluru, June 18, 2024: Inauguration ceremony of Joachim Stani Alvaris as the eleventh President of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Akademi was held at the Academy Outdoor on 18-06-24.

Chief guests Vidhan Parishad Member Ivan D’Souza and Dakshina Kannada District Congress President Harish Kumar and former Academy President Roy Castellino gave a yoke of agricultural implements and symbolically handed over power to the President-Members and wished them well.

Message given by Ivan D’Souza After the establishment of Konkani Academy, a lot of work has been done in the progress of the language in the last 30 years. Konkani Academy is not a political institution. By doing quality work in language, it is necessary to create amicable unity in the society. Konkani language can only grow if you learn it. Let your committee pay attention to this. My cooperation will be there to complete the Konkani Bhavan as soon as possible," he said.

Alwaris shared his feelings after receiving power, ``Government has given responsibility in recognition of Konkani’s service of last 35 years. Many things have been done during the previous president’s tenure. Our committee has the responsibility of completing the Konkani Bhavan, which is half standing. Another three crore grant is required. It will be completed and dedicated to the people of Konkani by the end of the year. Apart from this, researches in literary and cultural genres will be represented and language related workshops will be organized. Everyone should cooperate.’’

Member Vm. Dr. Prashant Madta Bangalore, Ronald Krasta, Naveen Lobo, Sapna Mae Krasta, Samarth Bhatt, Sunil Siddi Yallapur, James Lopis Honnavara, Dayananda Madkekar Karkala and Pramod Pinto Chikkamagaluru were appointed by Rajesh G., the in-charge registrar of the academy and assistant director of Kannada and culture department. He congratulated him with a bouquet of flowers. And finally thanked. Victor Matayas hosted the program.
