Mangalore, Jan 26, 2012: The state Bank of india celebrated Republic Day in a unique manner. A. Krishna Kumar, Managing Director and Group Executive of SBI, Corporate Centre, Mumbai presented water purifier to eleven schools today at SBI Commercial Branch, Mangalore. This initiative is one of their nationwide Corporate Social Responsibity Programme this year.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Krishna kumar said “This is a nationwide programme to be implemented and the target date for completion is 28.02.2012.” “The Bank is well aware of its social obligations and year marks a portion of its profit every year for these causes” he added.
State Bank of India, the country’s largest Bank is not only concerned with the financial well- being of the country, but also well – being of the downtrodden and good health of the future citizens. Water related diseases are the primary causes of fatality amongst children in the world. To build a healthy nation it is essential to protect our children from water borne diseases by providing clean drinking water. Many of our schools find it an uphill task to provide potable water to their student s. With a view to supplement the efforts of the schools all over the country in this regard, State Bank of India has decided to donate Water Purifier to the schools which require such facility, through more than 10000 branches of the Bank.
Shri P R Acharya, Assistant General Manager, Commercial Branch Mangalore welcomed the gathering. Shri Ashwini Mehra, Chief General Manager, Local Head Office, Bangalore delivered the vote of thanks. Shri Krishna Mohan Trivedi, General Manager, LHO – Bangalore, Shri Nageswar C Venkat, General Manager, LHO – Bangalore, Dr. V Eswaran, General Manager [RBU], Corporate Center were present on the occasion.
Water Purifiers were handed over to the following schools:

3. Kavoor Government School
4. Government High School Nalyapadavu, Shaktinagar
5. Government High School, Chitrapur
6. DK Zilla Panchayath Higher Primary School, Kadri
7. DK Zilla Panchayath Higher Primary School, Gandhinagar
8. Cassia School, Jeppu
9. Government High School, Hoige Bazar
10. DK Zilla Panchayath Higher Primary School, Kalveraguri Bajal
11. Government Composite High School, Melangady Ullal
