Mangaluru, March 23, 2025: The State government remains steadfast in its commitment to utilize the funds allocated in the Budget for guarantee schemes and the welfare of fishermen, said Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee president K. Harish Kumar on Saturday.
Addressing reporters, Mr. Kumar noted that while funds earmarked for welfare schemes, including the Gruha Lakshmi scheme in the 2024-25 Budget, have not been fully utilized, steps are being taken to address the lapses in implementation.
“The ₹2,000 monthly assistance under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme for women heads of families has been disbursed for three months. Efforts are underway to ensure smoother implementation,” he said.
He added that the government will soon release the ₹3,000 monthly livelihood assistance to fishermen during the fishing ban and lean period.
Mr. Kumar further highlighted the government’s commitment to operationalizing a ‘sea ambulance’ service along the Karnataka coast, aimed at improving emergency response capabilities for fishermen and coastal residents.
