Stranded Mangaluru student Anusha Bhat arrives from Ukraine

Mangaluru, Mar 03, 2022: Anusha Bhat from Bejai in Mangaluru who was stranded in war-torn Ukraine has finally landed safely at the Mangaluru International Airport on March 3, Thursday. She is a third year MBBS student in Ukraine.
Vidya and Harishchandra Bhat couple who had arrived at the airport turned emotional on seeing their daughter. Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLA Vedavyas Kamath were also at the airport to welcome her.
Recollecting her experience in Ukraine, she said she along with other students had boarded a bus at Vinnytsia to travel to a Ukranian border town of Chernivtsi. From there they walked two kms to reach the border post where only Ukranian army officers were present, she said adding no Indian government officials were at the spot.
From there they visited the immigration authorities at Romanian border and remained in a shelter for two days. Later the Indian government had arranged a flight from Bucharest to Mumbai, she informed.
