Street vendors take to streets against MCC’s Operation Tiger

Mangaluru, August 7, 2024: Street vendors took to streets on Wednesday opposing the Operation Tiger launched by the Mangaluru City Corporation to evict street vendors.

The street vendors took out a protest march from PVS to MCC office where they staged a protest. Various like-minded organizations too joined the protest.

There was a large police presence outside the MCC office and the police prevented the protestors from picketing the MCC office by putting up barricades.

BK Imtiyaz, Honorary President of the Street Vendors Association, described the Operation Tiger as unlawful. He also alleged that the officials who were part of the operation behaved inhumanely with street vendors.

Farmer leader Yadav Shetty, Manjula Naik and many others spoke on the occasion.
