Sullia : 2 dead, 2 injured in Maruti Omni- truck collision near Sampaje

Sullia, May 3, 2016 : A collision between a Maruti Omni and a container lorry at Goonadka near Sampaje on May 2, Monday claimed the lives of two persons while two others sustained serious injuries.
The deceased are Yusuf(45) from Virajpete in Kodagu, the driver of the Omni and Maqbool 55), also from Virajpete. Zulaikha and Saleem who were injured have been hospitalised in Mangaluru.
The container truck was reportedly over speeding. The impact of the collision was such that the Maruti Omni was badly mangled.
It is learnt those in the Maruti Omni were on way to Mangaluru to admit Saleem who was sick, to a hospital. Saleem’s wife Zulaikha and Maqbool were travelling in the Omni owned by Yusuf who too was killed in the mishap.
Yusuf was into arecanut and coffee business while Maqbool was a labourer.
A case has been registered in Sullia Town Police Station. A number of accidents have been reported on the Maani-Mysuru highway ever since the highway was widened.
