Sullia, April 08, 2021: An 85 year old farmer who was busy repairing a pipe that supplied water to his field from a nearby forest area at Kalmakaru on April 7, Wednesday died in an attack by a wild elephant.
The deceased is Shivaram Gowda of Mentakaje in Kalmakaru. When Gowda who had been to repair the pipe did not return for long his family members who grew anxious went in search of him only to find him seriously wounded.
He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Sullia where he breathed his last.
Locals said they have noticed an elephant herd near Kedila on Wednesday evening.
