Sullia, Jan 22, 2024: An arecanut grower from Markanja in Sullia who was also a well-known Yakshagana chende and maddale artiste has ended his life reportedly due to financial distress.
The deceased is Narayana Nayak (55) of Thota Chavadi. He was facing financial crisis after his areca crops were affected by disease. He is survived by his wife and two daughters including Divyashree Nayak, a popular TV actress.
This is the second case of death of a farmer due to financial distress. On January 4, Jagadish (56) from Aletti village, also an arecanut grower had committed suicide.
