Sullia: Man shoots wife; ends life by consuming poison

Sullia, January 18, 2025: A quarrel in the family resulted in a man shooting his wife to death and then ending his life by consuming poison at Kodimajalu in Kemraje village of Sullia taluk late night on Friday.

The deceased are Vinoda (43) and her husband Ramachandra Gowda alias Chandra (54). Ramachandra allegedly shot dead his wife using his own licensed revolver.

Ramachandra reportedly returned home in a drunken state and then picked up a quarrel with his wife and son over a trivial issue after lunch. The quarrel soon escalated and in a fit of rage, Ramachandra pointed the gun towards his son Prashanth and Vinoda rushed to rescue her son when Ramachandra pressed the trigger and she died on the spot.

Soon after this Ramachandra consumed acid used to prepare rubber sheets and ended his life.

A case has been registered in Sullia police station based on the complaint by the couple’s son Prashanth.
