Sullia: Murder in school premises; Accused arrested

Sullia, June 18, 2024: Police officials have arrested the suspect in the murder case at Kantamangala School in Ajjavara village, Sullia taluk.

The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Uday Kumar Nayak from Edamangala in Kadaba taluk, allegedly killed 45-year-old Vasant from Virajpet. The attack occurred on Sunday night, and the crime was discovered on Monday morning.

The sequence of events began when Vasanth and Uday Kumar met at a bar. They later traveled to Kantamangala by auto-rickshaw and decided to sleep in the school veranda. During the night, Uday noticed Vasanth had Rs. 800 with him. Motivated by greed, Uday attacked Vasanth with a stone, killing him instantly. Uday then fled the scene in the morning, taking Vasanth’s money and mobile phone.

The local police launched an investigation immediately after the crime was reported. Under the direction of SP Rishyanth C.B., ASP Rajendra D.S., and Puttur DSP Arun Nagegowda, the police team successfully apprehended Uday Kumar Nayak.
