Surathkal: Elderly man rescued from falling from a moving train

Mangaluru, April 4, 2025: Alert pointsman and station master rescued an elderly man from fall from a moving train in Surathkal railway station on Thursday.  

Seeing an elderly man getting into the moving Mangaluru Junction - CSMT Superfast express train, pointsman Jagadish ran towards him. He held the elderly man who was falling out of the train that had started to move out of the station.

Soon after, station master Manoj Shetty rushed to the aid and the two personnel managed to pull out the elderly from the train. Mr. Shetty quickly passed on the message to the locomotive pilot who stopped the train for a while before leaving the station.  

In appreciation of their work, a cash reward of ₹ 5,000 each to Mr. Shetty and Mr. Jagadish was given at the railway station.
