Mangaluru, Sep 15, 2022: Swachhta Pakhwada- the Two Week long cleanliness campaign under ’Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat’ programme - will commence from 16th September 2022.
In Palakkad Division, the campaign will begin with the administering of Swachhata pledge by Shri Trilok Kothari, Divisional Railway Manager at the Divisional Railway Manager’s Office, Palakkad at 10.45 hrs. on 16th September 2022.
The Cleanliness programme is being conducted with a view to improve cleanliness at railway establishments and on trains. Special Focus will be given on cleanliness of tracks at stations and elimination of plastic waste in Railway premises. Extensive awareness campaigns will be made to educate people about use of bio- toilets, avoiding single use plastic and observing cleanliness habits.
The campaign will conclude on 02nd October 2022.i.e., Gandhi Jayanthi day.
Enforcement of Cleanliness
As part of ensuring cleanliness, strict action will be initiated against those who litter the Railways premises.
Under the railway act, Littering ,Spitting ,Urinating and defacing walls of stations etc. in railway premises are punishable offences. Violation may cause penalty/ imprisonment up to 6 months.
