Kasargod, Dec 10, 2013 : The Kasargod Sessions Court which has pronounced the quantum of punishment in the Talangere double murder case, has sentenced one person to life imprisonment, while three other convicts will have to undergo ten years of rigorous imprisonment. Yet another convict has been sentenced to seven years RI.
Three other accused were acquitted on the grounds that the prosecution failed to prove the charges against them.
It is learnt the convicts belonging to the notorious Dandupalya gang were wanted in connection ith 84 other crimes including several murders in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
The murder of Beepathima(58) and her domestic help Selvi (16) were reported from Talangere on February 23, 1998.
The court has awarded life sentenced to Doddahanuma (45) from Bangalore, while Puthukkoli Venkatesh (45), Muni Krishna (43), Nalla Thimma (43), will have to undergo ten years RI. The court has sentenced Lakshmi (45), wife of Doddahanuma to seven years imprisonment.Those acquitted are Krishnadu (35), Padma (43) and Savithri (37).
