Target Ilyas murder case: Court acquits five accused

Mangaluru, Dec 12, 2023: The Third District Sessions Court has passed a judgement acquitting five accused in the case of the murder of the notorious Target gang leader Target Ilyas. Ilyas was hacked to death at his house at Jeppu in the city on January 18, 2018. Those acquitted are Shameer, Riyaz, Nameer, Abdul Khader and Dawood.

Four others wanted in this case, namely Naushad, Asghar Ali, Umar Nawaf and Mohammad Nasir are still absconding.

The police chargesheet had mentioned 54 witnesses in the case, of whom 25 were examined in the court. The brother­-in-law and mother-in-law of Target Ilyas were also witnesses in this case.
