Mangaluru, Sept 3, 2018: The International Kite Festival to be held on the shores of Dieppe Beach in France from September 8 to 16, will witness the unique ’Korida Katta’ kite- a creation by the renowned Team Mangalore hobby group of kite flyers of the city, based on the popular recreational rural sport of the region.
Informing this to reporters here on September 3, Monday, Team Mangalore Convenor B Sarvesh Rao, said city based noted artist and environmental activist Dinesh Holla has secured opportunity to design the poster of the Dieppe Kite Festival for the fourth time.
Team Mangalore’s Dinesh Holla and Satish Rao will participate in the event on an invitation from the Dieppe Mayor, he said adding Team Mangalore which has earlier participated in International Kite Festivals held at France, England, Canada, Hongkong, Dubai, Srilanka and other places have mesmerized the gathering with its splendid and colourful kites depicting the culture of the land including Yakshagana, Kathakkali, Pushpaka Vimana, Bhoothada Kola etc.
During the inaugural of the kite festival at France, Team Mangalore representatives will introduce the culture of Tulunadu by wearing the traditional headgear or Muttale.
Artist Dinesh Holla who also spoke said that as many as 46 works of art based on Ankola-based Halakki tribal folk artiste Sukri Bommagowda using line art will be dsipalyed during the festival.
He also stated that a special art work comprising the colours of the national flags of all the 48 participating nations of the Festival will be created and duly signed by all teams will be handed over to the organisers.
