Mangalore, Mar 17: Two persons sustained injuries when a tipper collided with a car on the Ullal Bridge over River Nethravathi on March 16, Tuesday. However, the vehicles remained on the bridge despite the impact of the collision.
Reportedly, careless driving on the part of the driver of the tipper is responsible for this accident. The tipper was loaded with sand.
The car was moving from Mangalore to Kasargod when the accident took place. Two of the riders in the car were admitted to the hospital with minor injuries. Eyewitnesses report that the tipper driver was attempting to overtake a lorry and did not notice the speeding car. The car driver was unable to avoid the collision because there was no place on the road. Fortunately, the impact did not push the two vehicles into the river.
The accident caused a traffic block that lasted for hours. The sand had fallen off onto the road and had to be cleared, a process that took one hour.
Ullal police have registered a case.
