Tragedy strikes Derlakatte family: 2 siblings drown in pond at Kasargod

Kasargod, Oct 23, 2015: Two siblings aged 8 and 4 met a watery grave in a pond at Talangere on October 22, Thursday.The deceased are Altaf (8) and his younger brother Atif(4), children of Anwar and Reshma couple of Derlakatte in the outskirts of Mangaluru.
Tragedy struck when the children along with their mother and grandmother had paid a visit to the Malik Dinar Mosque for Ziarat.
It is learnt, the children had gone closer to the pond which was located nearby. Very soon the family members heard them screaming for help. On rushing to the spot they realised that Atif and Altaf were drowning.
Though locals who rushed to the spot rescued the two kids and took them to hospital, it was of little help.
The tragic incident took place when Reshma had been to her parental home at Kasargod Chowki as the children had holidays.
Kasargod Police have registered a case.
