Tragedy strikes during picnic : 2 youngsters drown

Byndoor, Sep 03, 2018 : Two youngsters who were part of a group that had come to enjoy a picnic  on the Konamakki river side here  on September 2, Sunday have met a watery grave.

 

The deceased are Raju Naik (27), son of Satish Naik from Bhatkal and Zameer Sheikh (22), son of Imam Saheb. Both were neighbours.

A total of seven friends had come for a picnic here on their motorbikes and by an autorickshaw to celebrate the purchase of new bike by one of them. Sources said  Raju who first ventured into the water was caught in strong currents and Zameer  later rushed to his help eventually both getting drowned.

Divers from Shiroor retrieved the bodies. Zameer was a student while Raju was married and a father of two kids.
