Hassan, Jan 12, 2013 : If the driver of the Yeshwanthpur-Karwar Train was thanked by the hundreds of passengers of the train for saving their lives, saying, but for him they would not have been on this earth, the high level team of officials which has conducted an enquiry into the recent derailing of the train, has reportedly come to the conclusion that the driver was to be blamed.
Railway sources on condition of anonymity have revealed that the preliminary report submitted by the team, has made an adverse observation.
Though the reports until now suggested that the sudden brake applied by the driver sensing danger had saved the lives of the 1900 passengers of the train near Kadagarahalli bridge after the train passed Sakleshpur station on January 4 morning, the report is learnt to have said that the track broke because of the momentum caused by the sudden brakes and that the train would not have moved straight ahead had the track remained broken even before the train passed.
As reported earlier, the driver Shivaram had sensed danger from the strange rattle from the front wheels and had applied brake. As the engine and three compartments had run into the bridge, the track broke because of the momentum caused by braking, the report is said to have stated.
