Mangalore, June 27: Due to rain and more lanslides on the railway track between Padil and Thokur on Sunday has caused further delay in clearing the Konkan railway line.
“Due to heavy rain and more landslides between thokur and Padil in the Konkan Rail rout, all trains going this line will not be there till Wednesday, June 30” informed Southern Railway authorities.
Although railway authorities said that the tracks will be cleared by Sunday noon, due to more landslide the work might not be completed till Tuesday. The trains will not be moving in Konkal railway route till Wednesday.
Railway sources state that the Mangalore – Mumbai Matsyagandha is now starting from Suratkal instead of from Mangalore. The railway department has arranged buses to take passengers who have reserved tickets to Mumbai to the Suratkal Railway Station. The Railway Department has already cancelled seven long-distance trains and has diverted11 more.
Owing to heavy rains, there were land slides in areas between Padil and Thokur since Saturday, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded at various stations along the southern and the Konkan railway lines.
