Mangalore, Mar 13: Fr Muller Charitable Institutions and Medical College celebrated its Founder’s Day, Graduation Day, and Decennial Finale on March 13, Saturday, in the august presence of Mr. Dinesh Trivedi, the union minister of state for health; Santhosh Hegde, the justice of Lokayukta Karnataka; and Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, Rev Fr Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza. More than 500 postgraduate and 700 undergraduates obtained their degrees in various fields of study from Mr. Trivedi and Justice Hegde.
Mr. Justice Hedge urged the students to serve the poor without placing emphasis on monetary gains. Declaring that the medical profession is a noble one, he said that there are a number of underprivileged people in need of medical care from them.
The bishop of Mangalore Diocese, in his benedictory speech, said that the young people who are today leaving the portals of the college with a degree will soon receive jobs. He urged them not to forget the sacrifices made by their parents, peers, teachers, and society to facilitate their entry into the field of medicine. He encouraged them to make sacrifices in return for the good of society.
March 13, Saturday, also happened to be the 169th birth anniversary of Fr Augustus Muller, founder of Fr Muller Institution. Accordingly, it was grandly celebrated.
