Two pedestrians fatally struck by speeding car in Sullia

Sullia, Feb 9, 2025: Two pedestrians lost their lives after being hit by a speeding car in Kanakamajalu village, Sunnamule, Sullia taluk. The victims, identified as Kanakamajalu Kodya Ramaiah Shetty (67) and Janardhan Shetty (50) succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
The accident occurred on Saturday night when the duo was walking along the main road after attending an overnight bhajan program in Kanakamajalu. A car, reportedly traveling at high speed from Puttur towards Sullia, rammed into the pedestrians before fleeing the scene without stopping.
The impact left both victims with severe injuries. Local residents immediately arranged for their transportation to a hospital in Sullia. Later, they were shifted to a hospital in Mangalore due to the critical nature of their injuries. Despite medical efforts, both succumbed to their injuries.
The driver responsible for the accident is yet to be traced and an investigation is underway.
