Udupi, December 28, 2024: Local residents and family members have requested for a government job for the wife of Lance Havaldar Anoop Poojary who died after a vehicle in which soldiers were travelling fell into a gorge at Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir. Legislative Assembly Speaker UT Khader stated that he would discuss the matter with the Chief Minister.
Khader visited the home of Anoop Poojary in Beejadi Kelamane and offered condolences to the family members.
“The untimely death of a young man from our village, who was protecting the nation, has caused deep sorrow among the state’s people. The Chief Minister has assured that all benefits provided by the state government to the families of soldiers who died in the tragedy will be extended to Anoop’s family as well,” he said.
He also stated that while any programmes, including the construction of a memorial in the martyr’s name, should be decided by the local administration, the government is committed to providing necessary support.
Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said that Anoop’s wife, Manjushree, who holds a BCA degree, has expressed her desire to take up a job.
“Under the leadership of the Speaker, we will collectively work towards making it a reality. All necessary efforts would be made to ensure Anoop’s family can lead a peaceful life,” he said.
In a conversation with the Speaker in Tulu, Anoop’s wife Manjushree tearfully said, "He used to call every day. When there was no call until Tuesday night, I was worried."
MLA Yashpal Suvarna visited the family of Anoop Poojary and expressed that Anoop’s death has brought immense grief to the people of the coastal region. Locals have informed that Anoop Poojary had a dream of establishing an academy to guide and train young people joining the army. District representatives and prominent figures have pledged to work together to fulfil his dream.
