Padubidri, Sep 16, 2022: It has come to light that the lorry that claimed the life of a father and son at Uchila recently was driven by a 16 year old boy.
The accident that took place on the NH 66 near Uchila Mahalaxmi English Medium School on Wednesday morning had claimed the life of Prabhaker Shanker and his 13 year old son Samarth of Belagavi. The lorry which had caused the accident had fled the scene. If Prabhaker had died on the spot, Samarth died the next day in the hospital.
Police have traced the lorry at Ganjimutt based on CCTV footages and have arrested its driver Shekhar. When questioned it came to light that the lorry was driven by a 16 year old boy the whole night. The boy worked as a cleaner.
The driver has been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody while the boy has been sent to juvenile home. The lorry was transporting raw materials for plastic manufacture.
Samarth was a seventh standard student of Anegundi Saraswathi Vidya Peetha. He had been to Belagavi for Ganesha Chaturthi and was returning back to school with his father when the mishap took place.
