Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat breaks down in tears, says never expected to be dumped by BJP

Udupi, April 12, 2023: With the BJP deciding to field Mogaveera leader Yashpal Suvarna from Udupi Assembly constituency, the sitting MLA Raghupathi Bhat who is a ticket aspirant, is reportedly not happy with the development.

Speaking to reporters, the Udupi MLA said that he was shocked and requires some time to come out of it and decide on the future course of action. With tears rolling down his cheeks in front of reporters, he said he was highly disappointed over the way the party treated him. "

 

He said “I am not sad over the decision (of denying ticket) of the party. But I am pained over the way the party conducted this transition"

“The party should have treated me in a better way for being a three-time MLA. If I was told earlier that I will not get the ticket, I would have prepared myself to face the consequences. The party deceived me at the last minute.

He said he is happy for Yashpal Suvarna who grew politically under him.

“There is no need of me for the party now. Because the party has grown enough,” he said adding that he had contributed to the growth of the party when there were no workers at the booth level.

The MLA has convened a meeting of his supporters at his residence on Wednesday and would decide on his next course of action.
