Manipal, June 25, 2015: Udupi DC has issued notice to Manipal University for using 109 acres of government land for business purpose.

 

The district administration has served notice to Manipal University under the Land Grant Act of 1969. Also thirty days of time has been granted to the University to pay the fine.

Yogest Shet, RTI Activist raised an objection against the Institution and put allegation for illegally using the Land and constructing 17 storeyed building.


The RTI application has reached the Tax department and all the documents were verified. The documents says that During 1968 the government had given acres of land to the KMC of which 50 acres of land has been used for educational institution and 109 acres of land has been used by them for other purpose.


The BJP Govt, in 2011 had given permission for the building which is constructed in Manipal. But after congress government came in to rule, government issued two notices, which was not replied by the institution. The government cancelled the license.


The Tax department brought the notice to District administration. DC has now fined the University with 1,123 cr
