Udupi, Jan 12, 2024: In view of the Paryaya Mahotsava in Udupi Krishna Mutt on January 17 and 18, the Udupi Deputy Commissioner has issued an order banning vehicular movement on some roads and making alternate arrangements in view of the large number of people attending the festivities and to ensure smooth vehicular movement. The order has been issued under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 Column 115 and Karnataka Motor Vehicles Rules 1989 Rule 221 5(a).
On January 17 from 4 pm onwards private buses proceeding towards Udupi and Manipal from Mangaluru should travel via NH66, Karavali junction -Bannanje -Shiribeedu -City bus stand -Airodikar -service bus stand -Kidiyoor hotel and from there via Shiribeedu -City bus stand -Airodi service bus stand -Kidiyoor hotel -Shiribeedu -Bannanje -Karavali junction and NH 66 to reach Kundapur.
Private buses from Karkala via Manipal should reach Indrali -Kadiyali -Udupi bus stand and then take a turn via Kalsanka -Indrali towards Manipal and Karkala.
Booking agents and bus company staff are not allowed to enter Udupi city on the night of January 17 and should allow boarding and deboarding of passengers at Karavali Junction.
Traffic and parking are banned from 6 pm on January 17 until 6 am on January 18 on the following roads:
Swagata Gopura road, Kinnimulki, Govinda Kalyana Mantapa, Jodukatte, T M A Pai Hospital, Lions Circle, old Diana Circle, Mitra Junction, Thenkapete, Car Street Road, and the adjoining areas. Parking is prohibited on both sides from Kalsanka junction to Vidyodaya school. Nagabana cross to Jamia Masjid road, Kunjoor Electricals to Geetanjali road, the road police outpost on Service bus stand till Kavi Muddanna road, from Vishnu Flower stall till Jamia Masjid road, Bhasker Vihar road to Jamia Masjid road, Kalsanka to Badagupete road, from South school to Venkataramana temple, from Jodukatte to Betal church, Brahmagiri, near Syndicate tower, LIC road, near Alankar talkies, from Mission Hospital to Lions Circle in front of Mission Hospital road in front Ammanni Ramanna Hall leading to PPC college, road from Trinity PTI college to South school and from Beedinagudde to Venkataramana temple.
