Udupi woman loses ₹1.2 lakh in investment fraud

Udupi, January 14, 2025: A woman from Yadtady village in Brahmavar talulk of Udupi has allegedly lost ₹1.12 lakh to an investment fraud.
In a complaint to the Brahmavar police, the 30-year-old victim said she heard about ‘RPC investment’ app through a WhatsApp group and she downloaded it. As she was promised good returns, she invested ₹56,000 each on December 3, 2024, and on December 4, 2024, through the app. When she failed to get any returns, the woman filed the complaint.
The Brahmavar police registered her compliant for offences punishable under Sections 66 (c) and 66 (D) of the Information Technology Act. The police are looking at the trail of transfer of funds to trace the accused.
