Ullal: Cops arrest Kerala man for assaulting Bajrangdal leader inside police station

Mangaluru, October 17, 2024: Ullal police have arrested a native of Kasargod district in connection with the alleged assault on a Sangh Parivar leader who had been to the police station on Wednesday night for talks after a fracas between the drivers of two cars following a mishap at Thokkottu flyover.

The accused is Mohammad Asif of Hosangady. He reportedly assaulted Arjun Madoor at the station. The accused has been produced before the court.

The cars driven by Sharath of Kumpala and Ibrahim Khaleel of Kerala met with a mishap on the flyover on Wednesday night. In a fit of range, Khaleel and his brother Asif had reportedly assaulted Sharath. Later the Ullal police had intervened. Meanwhile, Arjun Madoor, a Bajrangdal leader and an acquaintance of Sharath had been to the station late night for talks when Asif reportedly assaulted the former.

The incident led to tension with Sangh Parivar activists gathering in front of the station and demanding that the accused be handed over to them.

DCP Siddarth Goel, ACP Dhanya Nayak and others rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

The injured Arjun has been admitted to a private hospital in Derlakatte.
