Ullal: Four members of family die in compound wall collapse over house

Mangaluru, June 26, 2024: In a tragic incident, four members of a family lost their lives after a compound wall collapsed over their house at Madaninagar in Munnur village of Ullal during the early hours of June 26, Wednesday.

The deceased are Yasir (45), his wife Mariamma (40), children Rihana (11) and Rifana (17). The compound wall of the house of a neighbour Aboobakker collapsed over the house of Yasir along with two arecanut trees resulting in the tragedy.

Yasir worked at Bunder in Mangaluru and had slept in the room of the house along with his wife and daughter when tragedy struck. The family had purchased the house six years ago and had given it on lease. The family had returned to stay here just six months ago. Two years ago, a similar incident had occurred but nothing much damage took place.

The bodies were extricated from the rubbles after nearly three hours of operation. Yasir’s elder daughter Rasheena who had come home for Bakrid had returned just on Tuesday.
