Mangaluru, July 14, 2018: A part of the old tiled roof of the old building of Ullal Railway Station collapsed on July 13, Friday; weak wooden scaffolding supporting the tiled roof is to blame in heavy rains.
The building had been abandoned and ticket issuing counter was shifted to a new building constructed next to the old building, said a senior engineer from the Palakkad Division of Southern Railway. The Mangaluru Railway Region, however, had sent a proposal to the Division to erect a new roof for the structure so that the building could be used as passenger waiting hall/ concourse.
Once the Division approves the Rs. 10 lakh proposal, the work would start and the passengers would get the benefit, the engineer said
