Mangalore, Aug 27, 2013: Notorious criminal Rashid Malbari, said to be an aide of underworld don Chhota Shakeel has been convicted in a case of illegal possession of arms.
The Second Additional District and Sessions Court passed the judgement on August 26, Monday.
However, the quantum of punishment would be pronounced on August 28.
The DCIB sleuths had arrested Malbari at Chattanchal in Kasargod in March 2009 in connection with the murder of Shabbir Khan Murad Khan Pathak, a Chota Rajan aide in September 1997.
He is also the prime accused in the case of attempted murder on Chota Rajan in Bangkok in 2000.
Malbari is also facing over ten cases in Mangalore, Bangalore and Mumbai stations. It is learnt, the allegation against Malbari of conspiring to kill BJP leader Varun Gandhi and Sri Rama Sene President Pramod Mutalik, is yet to be proved.
