Union Minister lays foundation for Coke oven at KIOCL

Mangaluru, Feb 20, 2022: The foundation stone for a coke oven of 1,80,000 TPA capacity at the blast furnace unit of Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd (KIOCL) was laid by Union Minister for Steel Ram Chandra Prasad Singh on February 20, Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said there was a plan to produce 300 million tonnes of crude steel in the country by 2030. Appreciating the vast experience of KIOCL in pelletisation, he said it will play a crucial role in  helping the nation achieve its target of crude steel production.

KIOCL Chairman Swaminathan, Joint Secretary of Steel ministry T Srinivas and others were present. The Minister later visited the New Mangalore Port.
