Union Steel Minister lays foundation stone for KIOCL’s housing project

Mangaluru, Feb 20, 2022: Union Minister for Steel Ram Chandra Prasad Singh laid the foundation stone for building an apartment for the employees of KIOCL Ltd., a Union governmet undertaking, at the KIOCL Township in Kavoor in the city on Saturday.

The ₹20-crore project will have 60 flats with each having 750 sq ft area. The apartment will be built in the area where about 80 of 500 staff quarters which are over 30 years old have been demolished. The remaining quarters will be demolished as they involved maintenance issues in a phased manner to construct blocks of apartments, a KIOCL official said.

The township has a guesthouse, shopping complex, community hall, playground and fitness park. The Minister later visited the pellet plant of the company in Panambur. T. Srinivas, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel and T Saminathan, Chairman and Managing Director of KIOCL were present on the occasion.
