Kundapur, Jan 31, 2013 : The court has handed over to police custody all the seven accused including the prime suspect Ramesh Bayiri, in the RTI activist Vasudeva Adiga murder case.
The accused were produced before the court on January 30, Wednesday as per court orders after the police filed an appeal seeking four days of custody of the accused for higher interrogation.
The court which took up the appeal, has entrusted the accused namely Ramesh Bayiri, Subrahmanya Udupa, Mohan and Ravichandra to police custody till February 1 and the other accused Umesh Naveen and Raghavendra till January 31.
The court had initially handed over all the accused except Bayiri to police custody. After the custody period ended they were remanded to judicial custody till February 4. However, the police who had suspicion that the accused were misleading them by furnishing false information had sought police custody of them again.
It may be recalled here that Vasudeva Adiga was kidnapped from near his house at Vandaru on January 7 and his body was found five days later at Kadur in Chikmagalur in a lake.
