Hindus in Mangalore have installed decorated idols of Lord Ganesh at public venues, housing complexes and homes.
Special arrangements have been made for devotees at the city’s most revered Ganesh idol, `Nehru Maidan, which attracts lakhs of people. Various organizations functioning in and around Mangalore have also celebrated Ganesh Chathurthy by installing Ganesh Idol in public places like Sanganikethan Police Lane, KSRTC, KMC, Jappina Mogru, Kuthar, Beeri, Kapikkad, Pupwell, Mangaladevi, Surathkal, Bunts Hostel, Panamboor, carstreet and other places.
The cries of "Ganpati Bappa Morya" reverberated as the idols were worshipped with singing of `artis’ like “Shree Vakratunda mahakaya koti soorya samaprabha,. nirvighnam kurumedeva shubha karyeshu sarvada..." amid bursting of crackers and beating of drums.
Devotees feasted on the Lord’s favourite delicacies like `karanji’ and ’modak’ after the `arti’.
