Mangaluru, Jun 21, 2021:  “The present lifestyle has brought stress to the individuals which leads to different types of diseases.  Therefore, practicing yoga is significant in controlling health problems resulted from modern life situation” said Dr. K. Krishna Sharma, Professor & Chairman of Department of Yogic sciences, Mangalore University speaking on the occasion of the  Virtual 7th International Yoga day celebration at Shakthi. The change in lifestyle creates competition for survival which leads to suffering from stress both psychological and physical. Yoga provides a solution to such problem.

Dr. Krishna Sharma stated that “There is an interrelationship between the mind and the body. When the body is physically healthy, mind is clearly focussed and stress is under control. Hence practicing yoga in the day to day life helps to maintain a healthy relationship between the mind and the body. In maintaining the physical health it is essential to balance our diet. The type of food we are eating has an effect on our body. Yoga teaches us an ethical principle of being selective of the food we eat”.

“Wake up and sleep at proper timings, maintain cleanliness, eat moderately at regular intervals and see yourself developing, which in turn leads to the development of the nation. Regular yoga practice builds mental intelligibility and coolness, boost body awareness,  relieves  stress  patterns,  relaxes  the minds and sharpens  concentration he concluded.

The programme began with Yogasana lead by Surekha, Physical Director of Shakthi. Sharanappa ,Kannada teacher invoked the blessings of the almighty.

“You don’t have to practise yoga everyday do it today. The current mental and health crisis demands in making yoga a part of the curriculum. The NEP is taking necessary measures regarding this implementation. Do not consider the practise of yoga as a job or a chore instead take it as an adventure and an avenue to explore ancient science” said Sanjith Naik, Secretary of the Shakthi education Trust in his Presidential address.

Dr.K.C.Naik, the Administrator Ramesh K, the Chief Advisor, Prakyath Rai-Institute Development Officer, Prof. T. Rajaram Rao-Principal of Shakthi PU College, Vidya Kamath G Principal of Shakthi Residential School, Neema Saxena, Co-ordinator of Shakthi Pre-School, all teaching and non-teaching staff, Parents and Students were present on this occasion. Bhavya Amin, Social science teacher was the co-ordinator of the programme.
