Vittal: Tahsildar led team raids illegal sand, bauxite extraction sites

Vittal, March 20, 2025: A team of officials led by Bantwal Tahsildar Archana Bhat raided places where illegal sand and bauxite extraction was underway. The raids took place at Kudtamugeru and Kanyana Padekallu. Several equipment and goods at the spot were seized.

The raids followed complaints of illegal sand extraction at Kudtamugeru. The officials found over 30 loads of sand stocked in the area. The officials seized several equipment used to extract sand manually. The Tahsildar has directed the PDOs concerned to initiate action.

Illegal sand mining

Following another complaint regarding unauthorized bauxite extraction, the team raided Padekallu and asked the owner to hand over documents. The case has been transferred to the Mines Department.

Apart from the Tahsildar, Vittal Revenue Officer Ravi M N, Gram Panchayat Administrative Officer Karibasappa Nayak, Village Assistant Girish Shetty and others were in the raiding team.
