Member Bina Gonsalves said that around 1,200 people took part in the walkathon, adding that the organizers are overwhelmed with the response. She said that students, parents, teachers, and the public took part in spite of the rains. The walkathon included a truck bearing student musicians playing on instruments, she added.

Students from Cambridge School, Presidency School, St. Agnes, St. Aloysius, Padua School, and Lourdes Central School took part in the walkathon, she said.

Stating that the funds raised were insufficient for the construction of the proposed electronic toilet for women, she said that they will try to get more sponsors for this project. They also plan to approach authorities to get permission to construct the toilet in a public place.

The Annual Parents’ Day Awareness program was held on Saturday in the auditorium of St. Agnes College to promote the walkathon.
