Water logging issue: Karambar residents protest against MIA

Mangaluru, June 1, 2024: A few residents of Karambar area who are facing problems due to water logging are staging a protest at the entrance of the Mangaluru International Airport on July̧ 1, Monday alleging that the water from the runway of the airport has damaged their houses.

Families residing in at least seven houses are protesting and have alleged that the airport authorities as well as the district administration have failed to solve their problems. They also alleged that a private property owner in Karambar has blocked the drain by dumping mud.

Residents of the seven houses are facing untold problems as water has even entered their houses. Protestors blocked road as part of the protest. The police later arrived and cleared the way.

Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Shetty arrived at the spot and spoke to the protestors who are adamant that the Tahsildar and DC must visit the spot and redress their grievance
