Mangaluru, September 22, 2024: A woman in Konaje was allegedly scammed out of ₹28.18 lakh in a part-time job fraud, police reported on Sunday. The victim received a WhatsApp message on July 21 offering her a part-time job, directing her to download the Telegram app. Following the scammers’ instructions, she made several bank transfers, starting with small amounts, which were later escalated to ₹28.18 lakh over a series of transactions.

The fraudsters initially gained her trust by returning small amounts, but later convinced her to transfer larger sums. Afraid to report the loss, she remained silent until informing her family, after which a complaint was filed with the Konaje Police.
