Woman dies after falling into river near Maravoor bridge

Mangaluru, Jan 12, 2024: In a tragic incident near the Maravoor Bridge on Sunday morning, a 60-year-old woman lost her life after falling into the river.

The deceased has been identified as Revathi, a resident of Kunjathbail. According to reports, Revathi left her home between 7:30 am and 8:30 am to visit a shop. For reasons yet to be determined, she ended up near the Maravoor Bridge and approached the riverbank.

Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that Revathi might have accidentally fallen into the river, resulting in her death.

Locals noticed her body floating in the river and alerted the authorities. The Kavoor police reached the spot and began an investigation. Meanwhile, her family, concerned after she failed to return home, searched for her and arrived at the scene. Her son identified the body as that of his mother.

The body was sent to a private hospital in the city for postmortem examination. Following a complaint filed by her son, the Kavoor police have registered a case of accidental death and are continuing their investigation.
