Woman dies saying that killer husband must be spared

Karkala, Feb 22, 2012: Shalini (35), who was allegedly stabbed by her alcoholic husband Sudhakar Poojary on Feb 21, was admitted to a hospital in Mangalore, where she died this afternoon. Her last wish was reportedly that her husband should not be harmed. 

Reportedly, the man had pestered his wife for money on the morning of Tuesday and stabbed her because she refused. He threatened everybody not to open their mouths and fled the scene when she collapsed.

The wounded woman was brought to hospital with the knife sticking out of her abdomen, and the doctors had to remove it. 

Shalini, the daughter of Korapolu Poojary and Kuddu Poojary, married Sudharkar Poojary nine years back. She has left behind her children Sushma (7) and Suraksha (5). 

According to the local people, Poojary, who works at a provision store is rude and hardly speaks to anyone. An alcoholic, he used to come home drunk and terrify people at home. Reportedly, he had purchased a new knife on Wednesday with the intention of murdering his soft-spoken and good-natured wife. 

The people, who are tired of Sudhakar, are searching for him along with the rural police.
