Mangaluru, December 16, 2024: In a tragic incident, an elderly woman who had been to the Someshwar beach to participate in the Pinda Pradhan ritual of her brother-in-law, was washed away in the sea while taking a dip in the water.

The deceased is Usha (72), wife of late Jagadish Bhandari of Derebail. Usha’s sister Nisha’s husband Karunaker Bhandari had passed away recently. The family had come to the beach for the ritual on Monday when Usha was washed away right in front of her relatives. Though some locals plunged into the water to rescue Usha, she had breathed her last by the time she was brought ashore.
