Woman kills 4-month-old baby, commits suicide

Mangaluru, Dec 3, 2023: In a shocking incident, a woman reportedly submerged her 4-month-old baby in a tub before taking her own life by hanging at an apartment in Gujjarakere on Saturday. The individuals involved in this tragic event have been identified as Fatima Rukia (23) and her infant son.
Fatima, who had been married to Dr. Muhammad Unais for the past one-and-a-half years, had been grappling with depression since giving birth. She was actively seeking treatment for her mental health concerns.
On Saturday, December 2, between 11:00 am and 1:30 pm, Fatima, alone at home with the baby, allegedly carried out the distressing act of drowning her infant in a tub before taking her own life by hanging. The Mangaluru South police station has registered cases related to this incident, and an investigation is underway.
