Continuing his speech about equal wealth distribution, Fr. Denzil said that companies go to rural areas to rake in profits; but one should consider the marketing of rural products for the benefit of the rural people. This does not mean that multinational companies are not welcome in rural areas, he clarified and suggested that rural areas comprise a very good market for mobile phones.

Informing the audience that the rural mela was the brainchild of Girish M, assistant professor of AIMIT, he said that this was the second rural mela organized by the college. He encouraged the members of the public to visit the mela and to make it a success. He also urged students to deeply consider their roles in not allowing the middlemen to benefit.

Reminding students of the affection and hospitality of the people of villages such as Mundgod, Anekal, Haliyal, and others, he urged them to develop the burning desire to work for the welfare of these people.

Mr. Premnath Kudva, the managing director of Canara Sales Corporation, presided over the programme and said that Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, said that the nation must be built around villages, adding that things are fortunately happening according to the Mahatma’s dream. Expressing fond memories of life in St Aloysius College, he said that he was happy that the students of St Aloysius were getting an opportunity to experience rural life.
