Young woman alleges harassment by group of youth near hotel; files police complaint

Mangaluru, August 30, 2024: A young woman has lodged a complaint at the Barke police station alleging harassment and assault by a group of youth near a hotel in the city. The incident reportedly took place on August 25 when the woman had been to the hotel along with a close friend.

According to the complainant, it began when she entered the washroom of the hotel and found a young man inside. When she questioned, some other young men misbehaved with her. The complainant said she raised the issue with the hotel staff but of no avail.

Later when the woman left the hotel, a bike rider blocked the way of the car in the parking area. The complainant said there was a minor collision when the car took a reverse and this led to argument and a group of 20 men harassed and assaulted her and even threatened her.

The woman has later lodged a complaint at Barke police station. It has been alleged that there has been no action even after four days of lodging a complaint.
