“M.S Riviera" fourth cruise vessel arrives at New Mangalore Port

Mangaluru, Jan 10, 2024: The glorious M.S Riviera makes a successful mark by arriving today at the New Mangalore port at 0700HRS as the first cruise ship of the New Year 2024 and fourth of the cruise season. The Marshall Islands flagged ship docked along berth No. 04 containing 980 passengers along with 752 crew members. The vessel’s arrived enroute from Ports of Dubai, Mumbai & Mormugao. The overall length of the ship is 239 meters with a carrying capacity of 66,172 Gross tonnage and a draft of 7.60 metres.

Cruise passengers were given a warm welcome to the melody of Mangalore’s brass brand and by Yakshagana artists. The tourists were overjoyed to see the various cultural attractions made available for them in the cruise lounge.

Many preparations were made to make sure tourists have a splendid experience, including medical screening, multiple immigration and customs counters for swift movement, buses and special taxis for transportation around Mangalore city, meditation centre by Ministry of AYUSH, Virtual Reality Experience Zone, free WIFI by NMPA & Selfie stand depicting Mangalore’s Yakshagana Art form by Ministry of Tourism.

Shri K. G. Nath, Deputy Chairman, NMPA felicitated the Master of the vessel along as gesture of hospitality along with Capt. S. R. Pattanayak, Dy. Conservator, Shri jijo Thomas, Secretary, NMPA and other senior officers of the Port. In a reciprocal gesture, the master presented the Deputy Chairman with a memento.

Tourists were later entertained by Yakshagana performance by local group. The passengers visited various tourist destinations, such as the Karkala Gomateshwara Temple, the 1000 Pillar Temple at Moodabidri, Soans farm, Achal Cashew Factory, Gokarnanatha Temple, St. Alloysius Chapel, the Local Market, and traditional Homes in the city. Embarking on their onward journey, tourists received colourful souvenirs depicting Mangalore’s rich cultural heritage. The ship departed at 17:00 Hrs for its next destination, the Cochin port.
